Martin E. Kirk Born in Tacoma, Washington on May 31, 1918. Departed on March 16, 2002 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Martin E. Kirk, 83, of Cottonwood died March 16. He was born May 31, 1918 in Tacoma Washington. He was one of thirteen children and was out on his own at the age of 11. He received a college degree from Park College in Missouri. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a retired electrician. Mr. Kirk was a ham radio operator for many years and was a self taught pilot. He volunteered at the Cottonwood Public Library for numerous years and awarded a plaque for ''Volunteer of the Year'' in 1991. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Cottonwood and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was predeceased by his wife of 21 years, Betty, who died on May 31, 2001 and twelve brothers and sisters. Mr. Kirk is survived by his daughter Lois Bradford of Phoenix and four grandchildren, Justin Bradford, Elizabeth Cargo, Anne Marie Cargo and Thomas Cargo. A Memorial service wil be held Friday, March 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Southern Baptist Church. The VFW Post 7400 will provide military honors.
