Published by Today's News Herald on Sep. 10, 2023 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - William (Bill) Harsh was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 16, 1933 and passed away at his Lake Havasu City home the afternoon of Feb. 28, 2023. He was 89 years old. As a personal joke, Bill was known to many of his friends as "Bogus" Bill. Bill grew up in Des Moines, San Bernardino, California and Atascadero, California. Bill served as a paratrooper in the Army. After leaving the military, he became a career firefighter for the Las Vegas Fire Department. During these years, Bill's side business was called Stardust Tables. He created beautiful burl wood designs. Bill was a talented artist. In his later years, he loved working with woods of all kind. For all of Bill's life, he also enjoyed restoring and showing motorcycles and cars. While in Las Vegas, he always kept boats on Lake Mead and was blessed with many friends to join him in water sports. Bill was a charming, independent character who never lost his sense of humor. He was kind and generous to all who were in need. Bill was married to Judith Harsh the mother of his only son, Michael, who both preceded him in death as did Bill's stepbrother, Jim Saffeels. Bill is survived by his loving sister, Pamela Hodge, of Durango, Colorado and Lake Havasu City. He also is survived by his large, friendly and faithful dog, Sophie, who awaits a forever home at the Humane Society in Havasu. Bill was a giving and loving soul who is deeply missed. |
