Published by Today's News Herald on Nov. 12, 2023 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Paula Johnson Myers passed away on Oct. 30, 2023, at the age of 93, in Las Vegas. Paula was born Pauline Gordon in Unionville, Virginia on June 25, 1930, the fifth of 10 children of John and Emma Gordon. Shortly after her birth, the family relocated to the Maryland Suburbs of Washington D.C., where Paula grew up and graduated high school. She embarked on a varied career during post-war DC of the 1950s and 1960s. This included working for men's clothier Kneessi & Adler and managing commercial painting contractor John W. Johnson, Inc., all while raising her two children, Ronnie and Sandra (Sandy). Paula's love of homes and home-decorating led to her eventual career in real estate, both in Bethesda, MD and Lake Havasu City, after her move here in 1978 with her daughter Sandy. Paula enjoyed being a part of the growing community, first working for Holly Development flying potential residents to the new city in the desert, to her eventual retirement in 1992 as owner and designated broker of ERA American Real Estate. When not working, some of Paula's favorite escapes were the occasional weekend slot tournaments in Laughlin and Las Vegas. Paula drew much contentment when surrounded by loved ones, the circle grew when she was welcomed into the Myers family upon her marriage to John Myers in September 1989. Together they often welcomed visits from members of their blended family, both from across town and the country. Paula is preceded in death by her husband John, parents John and Emma Gordon, son Ronnie Johnson, eight of her ten siblings, and granddaughter Shelly Johnson. She is survived by her "baby girl," daughter Sandy Johnson of Lake Havasu City, her "baby Sister," Katie Sutphin (Phil) of North Carolina, her "baby boy," grandson R. J. Johnson of Maryland, as well as many loving nieces and nephews, and the extended Myers family. Paula's circle of loved ones will miss her dearly, and she will be held in their hearts forever. A private memorial in honor of Paula will be held at a later date. Interment is at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens. See Also: Find A Grave |
