Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Wednesday, October 18, 2023, p. A-6 Carol Ann Buffington Casey passed away gracefully on a full, moonlit evening in Wickenburg on Sept. 28, 2023. She was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on Dec. 20, 1933. Carol spent the first chapters of her life in Southern California and her last 24 years in Arizona. She traveled globally and lived overseas for a time in Japan, Europe and Australia. Her educational experience included the University of Oregon, California State University at Long Beach and California School of Professional Psychology. Carol's work life included motherhood, counselor, off-road race promoter, appraiser, investor, realtor and property manager. She worked up until the final four months of her life. She lived her life in such a way that gained her admiration and respect for her confident and straight-forward style. Always up for an adventure or opportunity for fun, she inspired others to live larger and boldly. Carol was a curious, lifelong learner, an honest and forthright business person, a loving family member and a loyal friend. She lived with freedom and gained even more when she took God up on his kind offer of eternal life through faith in his son Jesus. An avid bird lover since childhood, Carol earned her private pilot's license when her children were in pre-school. Now she flies with the angels and dances on very real streets of gold. Recently, she was aptly described as an authentic woman in a sea of ordinary. She was revered and adored by many for that unique strength of personhood. Carol will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. Carol leaves behind her brother James K. Buffington (Colleen); children Shaun Casey (Paula) and Lisa Offner; 10 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; and an array of beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Darwin Garner 'Binks' Buffington and Lena Evelyn Knox Buffington; sister Darlene Ruttman; and brother, Darwin 'Buff' Buffington. A private celebration of life is being held at Wickenburg Golf Club. Funeral arrangements were made through Wickenburg Funeral Home. |
