Published by Today's News Herald on Jun. 16, 2024 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Eugene Richard Grabowski passed away May 19, after suffering a short illness. He was born the December 13, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Eugene and Corabel Blythe Grabowski. Richard is proceeded in death by his parents and his son Daniel Brian Grabowski. Richard moved to Camarillo, California in the early 1950's with his family, sisters Peggy Kenz, Christine Pokorny, Robin Pokorny and brother Jerry Grabowski. Richard graduated from Adolfo Camarillo High School in 1963 and worked at Camarillo State Hospital in the pharmacy. He married his wife Dianne Hedrick in February 1965, and they were married for 59 years. They raised six children: Timothy Eugene, (Vicki Brophy) Michael Todd, (Julie Suminski) Daniel Brian, Donald Rey, (Natalie Acosta) Deana Michelle, (Larry Griffith) and Debera Ann (Don Gregg). Richard and Dianne have 11 adult grandchildren and have 9 great-grandchildren and one more on the way. Richard began driving trucks for Halaco Engineering in Oxnard, California delivering magnesium ingots to McCulloch Chain Saws in Los Angeles, California and when the company moved to Lake Havasu Richard drove from Oxnard to Lake Havasu 4 times a week. He spent more time out here than home. He decided to move his family out here and in February 1979 the family settled in. Richard was injured in an accident and changed his life to attend Technical Training Center earning a Diploma in Computer Technology. He retired from Silver State Components in 2019. Richard also worked at Johnson-Manley Havasu he was their top salesman for many years. Richard joined the Elks Lodge # 2399 in 2012. Richard and Dianne traveled all over the country and especially Maui. Richard wants his ashes to be spread in the ocean off the coast of Kahanna. A celebration of life will be held on June 29, 2024, from 12 to 2 pm at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home located at 21 Riviera Blvd. Lake Havasu City, AZ. 86403 |
