Published by Today's News Herald from Jul. 27 to Jul. 28, 2024 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - On July 22, 2024, we lost a shining beacon of strength, love, beauty, and grace, Barbara Jean Cole. Barbara died peacefully with her loyal family and best friend, Jack by her side. Born on July 16, 1941, in East Chicago, Indiana Barbara's life was a testament to her capacity for love, loyalty, her indomitable spirit, and her unwavering belief in God. Barbara previously lived in Munster, Indiana, then Melrose Park Illinois, before settling in beautiful Lake Havasu City, Arizona, in 1994, where she became a beloved pillar of the community over the next 30 years. Barbara was a woman of many talents and interests. She was a big part of Lake Havasu republican women's club and was highly involved in her Sorority. Her vibrant personality was reflected in her love for painting, a hobby that brought her peace and allowed her to express her creativity and artistic flair. Barbara also found joy in the tranquility of reading, she loved to read and would take her book with her while she sat for hours at the hospital with her friends that were sick or hurt. She even sat with her friends' relatives when they could not. Her kindness was out of this world. Barbara's professional life was equally fulfilling. She spent many years as a respected Real Estate Broker, getting her real estate license in her 30s and broker license in her 50s. She is survived by her loving daughter Dianna Smith, Dianna's husband Clay Smith whom Barbara considered more of a son than a son-in-law. Her beautiful grandchildren, Travis Smith and Tyler Smith. Her loving Son, David Swanson and her little brother Michael Victor Jr. Barbara was a woman who believed in making a difference, a belief she exemplified through her contributions to the Cancer Society. She is preceded in death by her mother Stella Victor and stepfather Michael Victor. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Barbara on August 1, 2024, from noon to 2 p.m. MST at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home located at 21 Riviera Boulevard, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, 86403. |
