Francis M. 'Max' Bode Born in Elgin, Nebraska on May 13, 1926. Departed on Oct. 29, 2002 and resided in Clarkdale, Arizona. Francis M. 'Max' Bode, 76, of Clarkdale, born May 13, 1926 died October 29, 2002. Max was the seventh child born to Charles and Ida Bode of Elgin, Nebraska. Max attended Lexington High School in Lexington, Nebraska where he excelled in track, football and especially basketball. He and his team were basketball state champions. Max served in the US Navy during World War II. He came to the Verde Valley in 1957 to work for Arizona Public Service. His work with APS continued until his retirement. Max and his wife of 51 years, Lorene (Lori), had three children; two sons, Michael and Robert and one daughter, Laura. A son, Michael, proceded his father in death. Max loved to hunt and fish and was fortunate to have sons and grandsons to spend these special times with. Max was a member and a Past Exalted Ruler of the Jerome Lodge of Elks #1361. He supported and believed in the organizations charitable works. He was a past member of the of the Clarkdale/Jerome School Boards as well as serving, in the 1960's, as volunteer fire chief for the Town of Clarkdale. Max loved his family and was loved in return. He is survived by his wife Lorene; daughter Laura (Frosty) Nolan; son Robert, his three grandchildren, Mike Nolan, Angela Aguilar and Mike Bode; his two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; five brothers, Bob and Jay of Neb., Melvin, Charles and Gerold of Calif.; two sisters, Rhita Hock and Patty Young and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Celebration of Max's Life has been scheduled for Sunday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jerome Lodge of Elks, S. Broadway, Clarkdale. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation may be made, in Max's name, to the Jerome Elk's Lodge Charitable Fund, P.O. Box 488, Clarkdale, Ariz., 86324.
