Published by Today's News Herald on Sep. 22, 2024 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Jantha "Belle" (Brown) Kastoll, 101, died peacefully in her sleep with her daughter and close friend by her side. She was born on April 2, 1923, to Ernie and Elsie (Lukesh) Brown and raised in St. Charles, IL. She was a Lake Havasu City Pioneer and moved to Lake Havasu with her husband Ray Kastoll in 1969. Belle and Ray became active members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. She worked at the hotel serving alongside the "Holly Men" who hosted the tourists flying into visit Lake Havasu in the early days. Belle volunteered at Hospice of Havasu, where she visited patients for approximately 16 years and became known as the "Cookie Lady" because she brought cookies to friends, patients, doctors and others. She loved animals and regularly went to the dog park where she became close to several of her "dog park" friends. Belle was fun loving and a very social person who loved to decorate her home and entertain. Belle worked at a soda fountain in high school, where she met her future husband, Ray, who worked next door as an usher in the movie theater. They became high school sweethearts and married in 1944. Belle worked as a telephone operator while Ray served in the US Army during WWII. Their favorite song was "You Made Me Love You". Belle was a stay-at-home mom and was busy raising her children, enjoyed playing bridge and loved teaching Sunday School. Belle is survived by her son Craig Kastoll; daughter Karen Kastoll; niece Darcy Brown; nephews David Kastoll and David Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernie and Elsie Brown, husband Ray Kastoll, and brother Charles Brown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Arrangements are cared for by Bradbury Memorial Center in Lake Havasu City.
