Published by Today's News Herald from Nov. 26 to Nov. 27, 2024 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - John Army Ryan III, 74, of Lake Havasu City, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 25, 2024, in Las Vegas. Born in Baltimore on July 27, 1949, John was a father, grandfather, and friend whose life was defined by his love for football and dogs, his craft as a gunsmith, and his unshakable spirit. John grew up in Baltimore before moving to California in the late 1960s, where he began his adult life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1969. After his military service, John lived in Southern California before settling in Lake Havasu City, in 1988. For over three decades, he called Lake Havasu City home, building a life there as a boat salvage diver and skilled gunsmith. He developed a reputation for his craftsmanship, working with firearms and providing a valuable service to the community. Throughout his life, John was married four times. He is survived by his three children, Sandy Hunt, Christina Price, and Kimberly Ryan; his grandchildren, Hala and Kaia Ryan-Coyne; his nephew, Jason Ryan, and his 1973 Ford F-250, Fred. There were also friends who were a part of the family he created in Lake Havasu City. John leaves behind a legacy of hard work and service. He had a unique ability to connect with others, sharing his stories, wisdom, and sense of humor with all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his skills as a gunsmith but also for his kindness, integrity, and the love he gave to those closest to him. A grave site memorial will be held at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens on Dec. 14, 2024, starting at 10 a.m. John Army Ryan III will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those fortunate to know him.
