With heartfelt reverence, we commemorate the life of Amy Kathryn
Schmaltz, a compassionate soul who made this world a brighter place with
her presence. Born on Aug. 12, 1942 in Detroit. Amy lived an exemplary
life of 82 years, filled with warmth, laughter, and unending kindness.
Amy resided in Lake Havasu City for the last 16 years, where she became
a beloved member of the community.

A funny and smart woman with a witty sense of humor, Amy never failed to
bring joy to those around her. She had a profound love for dogs and
found immense pleasure in their companionship. Her passion for reading
knew no bounds and she often found herself lost in the world of books.

Amy was also an incredible cook, always ready to whip up a delicious
meal, making every occasion a special one. She was the embodiment of the
quote, "The secret of happiness is not in doing what one likes, but in
liking what one does." She lived this mantra, pouring love into
everything she did.

Amy is survived by her loving husband, Curtis Schmaltz; her son, James
Schmaltz and daughter-in-law, Melissa Schmaltz; her daughter, Laurie
Derfler and son-in-law, Dean Derfler. Her legacy continues to shine
through her grandson, Jarin Schmaltz and great-granddaughter, Elisabeth
Schmaltz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Richardson
and Ruth Renard.

Amy's life was a testament to living passionately and loving deeply. Her
memory will forever be a beacon of joy, love, and strength for all who
knew her. We invite you to share your cherished memories of Amy, and
upload photos that celebrate her wonderful life on her memorial page.
Your contributions will serve as a testament to Amy's lasting impact on
our lives.

A memorial service will take place at Mount Olive Lutheran Church on
Jan. 11, 2025 at 1 p.m.
