| Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory Wickenburg, AZ Everett Aaron Sickles July 7, 1953 — March 15, 2025 Wickenburg resident and former Mayor, Everett Sickles went peacefully to be with his Lord on March 15, 2025. His wife Patty and family and friends were by his side. Everett was born in Los Angeles, California to his father Everett (Bud) Sickles and mother Catherine (Kay) Sickles, Everett's brother Kenneth Mark Sickles and his parents precede Everett in joining their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Everett is also preceded in death by his in-laws George and Betty Alt andnephew Daniel Mark Spadafino. The Sickles family moved to Parker, Az where Everett learned to fish and drive his boat before moving to Yarnell, Az in 1965 where Everett went to grade school and then graduated from Wickenburg High School in 1971. He attended Yavapai College and graduated in 1973 and moved to Tempe to attend Arizona State University. He graduated with his Master's Degree in 1980. Everett and Patty were married on September 21, 1980, and moved to Yarnell, Az 10 days later to start their life and one of their many businesses together. Everett also loved to learn so he returned to Yavapai College to get his degree in Diesel Mechanics. In 1981 with Everett's knowledge in diesel mechanics Everett and Patty were able to start Sickles Sanitation. It was the first rural sanitation business in Arizona to automate which allowed them to grow a very successful business, outgrowing their location in Yarnell. Everett also served as a consultant to Prescott Valley and Wickenburg when they wanted to automate their garbage service. In 1997 he and Patty built a State-of-the-Art Solid Waste Transfer Station in Wickenburg and later added Roll-off services and the recycling center. As a result, Everett and Patty moved to Wickenburg in 1999. They sold the Sanitation business in 2014 to move onto their next adventure. Everett had a gift of seeing what the community needed and the knowledge of making it a reality. When Wickenburg Oil closed their doors leaving many of Wickenburg needing diesel for their equipment, Everett had the vision to build a convenience store and gas station with 2 RV dump stations and a kitchen where he made his famous breakfast burritos for Wickenburg's cowboys, contractors and landscapers. Everett's next adventure was to purchase and restore empty buildings in downtown Wickenburg which provided jobs and resulted in the opening of the Hassayampa BBQ in 2019. Everett was in charge of smoking the meat and running the business with Patty. Everett continued his education by becoming a pilot and enjoyed flying his Cessna. He also loved to sail, and he received his sailing license, all while running several businesses. In 2022, he and Patty sold the BBQ and retired from running businesses to become landlords and travel. We are very grateful to our many employees and customers who made our dreams possible. Everett was very passionate about his community and the Constitution. He served on the Town Council and served as Mayor of Wickenburg. While he was Mayor he was invited to represent Wickenburg in Cologne Germany. In turn, he hosted the Cologne Red Sparks when they came to Wickenburg. It was an experience and an honor he never forgot. As Mayor he traveled with other Arizona Mayors to Montreal, Canada for the maiden voyage of Air Canada's direct flight from Phoenix to Montreal. Everett also served on the Valley Metro Board and the Maricopa County MAG board. He loved promoting Wickenburg, even while he was in the hospital he bragged about Wickenburg. Everett was proud to represent the Citizens of Wickenburg and would fight for what he believed. Everett was very dedicated to his family. Whether it was taking his moms cattle to the sale barn; or, giving his nieces and nephews a ride in his backhoe; or, taking care of his mother in law's house, he was always giving to his family. Everett is survived by his wife Patty Sickles, Sister in law and her husband Rodger & Donna Mellema, Sister in law and her husband Joe & Shirley Spadafino, Nieces Syrena Sickles-Kampa (Zack) and family, Markaysa Sickles, Angela Wilson (Devon) and family, Joseph Spadafino (Aimee) and family and Matthew Spadafino. Services will be held at Mount Hope Assembly Church, April 18, 2025 at 4:00pm, 550 N Penn Lane, Wickenburg, Arizona 85390 In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Region One Veterans Support Office P.
