Wickenburg Funeral Home Wickenburg, Arizona www.wickenburgfuneralhome.com With deep sadness we must announce Shirley [Adkins] Evans, age 89, passed away on February 5, 2025. Shirley was born in Rose Township, OH, to Harry Sweaney and Olive [Farber] Sweaney on January 9, 1936. She was the oldest of four children. She grew up on a farm where she learned all about hard work, family values and great cooking. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona the latter part of 1956 then to Wickenburg in 1972. Shirley married James Evans on December 19, 1999 in Wickenburg, Arizona. Shirley is preceded in death by her eldest son Terry Lee Adkins. She is survived by her husband, Jim, her son Robert and her daughter Betty as well as her step children Jimmy, Debbie and David. She has 13- grandchildren, 33-great grandchildren, and 3-great great grandchildren. From childhood she had a passion for collecting salt and pepper shakers as her Mother and Grandmother did. Over the years we estimate her collection has grown to over 2,000 pair for which she proudly displayed throughout the house. She spent several years involved in the Lioness Club. She loved the RV travels with Jim. And she simply loved her family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 10:00 AM at Wickenburg Funeral Home. |
