Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Wednesday, March 19, 2025, p. A-6 John W. (Bud) Fisher, 97, of Wickenburg passed away peacefully on Feb. 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. A cherished husband, father, and grandfather, Bud will be remembered for his gentlemanly ways. Born Jan. 4, 1928, in Omak, Wash., Bud was the son of John B. (Jack) and Opal Fisher. On Nov. 27, 1947, he married the love of his life, Peggy Greenaway. The two worked with his parents running Fisher's Food Store where Bud ran the butcher shop. The store closed in 1969, but Bud continued running the meat shop, under the name Fisher's Custom Meats, for the next 35 years. Bud took pride in knowing he passed down the meat cutting trade to his son and grandson, who worked with him until he fully retired. Bud and Peggy were also very active in the orchard industry as well as the Okanogan County Museum and Historical Society. Since 2017, Bud has lived in Wickenburg. He made many new friends and enjoyed going to watch team roping events with his buddies every day. Bud is survived by his son, Ron; wife, Denise; as well as his grandchildren, Jason Fisher and wife, Julie, and Leslie Rubert and husband, Reid; and five great-grandchildren, Chase and Hunter Rubert, Colton, Royce and Callie Fisher. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, sister Anna-Jean and his parents. A celebration of Bud's life will be held on Saturday, May 10, at the Elks Lodge in Omak, Wash., from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. |
