Evan (Moss) was born in August 1962 in Pampa, Texas. He spent his childhood in Texas and Oklahoma before his family settled in Lafayette, Louisiana, when he was in middle school. He attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where he met his wife, Wendy. They married in November 1986 and moved to North Carolina. Evan (Moss) was a gifted landscape designer who spent over 25 years bringing beauty to people's lives through his business, LandArts. But it was never just about the work he loved building something meaningful, getting to know his customers, and making sure their landscapes brought them ease and joy. It was a true family business, one that he and Wendy built together, pouring their hearts into it. Evan and Wendy shared 37 years of love, laughter, and adventure. They started out in North Carolina in their early twenties, figuring life out together. They spent five years in Austin, Texas, soaking up all that city had to offer. Eventually, they made their way back to North Carolina, settling in a spot that felt just right--close enough to both the mountains and the coast, giving them plenty of chances to enjoy the outdoors. For 18 years, it was just the two of them, building their life together, until their greatest joy arrived--their daughter, Grace. She was Evan's whole world. Having his own business meant he could spend so much time with her as she grew up, and he wouldn't have traded that for anything. Music was a huge part of Evan's life. In his twenties, he played solo in coffee houses around Chapel Hill, just him and his guitar. Later, he joined the band Peak City Sound in Apex and had a great time playing out with friends. But really, music was something he lived with every day. He played guitar and sang all the time, filling the house with music. He wrote his own songs--sometimes just for himself--and he loved building guitars and amps just as much as playing them. He could spend hours tinkering, always chasing a certain sound or simply enjoying the process of making something with his own hands. Evan loved the outdoors--boating, fishing, kayaking--anything that got him on the water. He had a special group of camping buddies, the Red X Anglers Club, who made it a tradition to head out together in the spring an fall, spending days on the river and nights by the fire, telling stories and simply being in nature. Last August, Evan retired and set off on an adventure he had long dreamed of. He packed up his camper and headed West, traveling through national parks, meeting incredible people, and living simply, close to the earth. He spent his last months exploring, soaking in the quiet beauty of nature, and finding peace in the wide-open spaces. Evan was one of a kind. His deep, warm voice, his laugh, and the passion he brought to everything he did will never be forgotten. Wendy, Grace, and so many others will miss him beyond words--but his spirit lives on in the landscapes he shaped, the music he played, and the love he left behind. Evan is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Benoit, and his father, Wayne Blewett. He is survived by his wife, Wendy; his daughter, Grace; his sister, Shelley; and his niece, Mallory. While no formal services are planned for Evan, the family will be honoring and celebrating him privately. We encourage all those who loved and cared for Evan to do something personally meaningful to honor his life.
