Published by Today's News Herald from Apr. 8 to Apr. 9, 2025 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - James Lee "Big Jim" Kennedy passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025 at his home in Lake Havasu with family by his side. He was born on April 2, 1934 to Robert and Alberta Kennedy in Boulder, Colorado. Big Jim was a prominent member of the Lake Havasu community for the past 40 years. He owned/operated Big Jim's Texaco and Big Jim's Tires, he loved being his own boss. He was a long-standing member and Past Worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lake Havasu, and he en- joyed helping out and visiting with people there. Jim always extended his hand out to everyone he met; no one was a stranger. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his children's mother Laura Sager Kennedy, his sister Barbara Smith and grandson James Bell. Jim is survived by his sister Patsy Benson, his five children, Bob (Joni) Kennedy, Holly (Kent) Townsend, Julie Bell, Peggy (Kim) Schultz, and Penny (Luke) Nordby, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren with more on the way, as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. Big Jim thoroughly loved playing pranks on people on April Fool's Day. Not long ago he said, "Just watch I'll show you guys maybe I'll pass away on April Fool's!" Darn if he didn't do just that, and just one day before his 91st birthday. "Big Jim" Kennedy was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends! There will be no service at Jim's request. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity. |
