Don Bergen was born January 10, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York to Tallmadge
and Blanche Bergen. He passed away February 6, 2025 in Lake Havasu City,
Arizona. Don graduated from New York University School of Journalism
with a BA in 1958. He married his first wife, Julienne and had four
children, Michelle Bergen (Lisa Hubchik) of Denver Co., Denise McCorvie
(John) of Boulder Co., Patrice Peters (Jim) of Topeka KS. and William
Bergen (Cindy) of Colorado Springs, CO. along with 7 grandchildren.

Don worked in Marketing Management at AT&T first in Pueblo Co. and then
later in Colorado Springs, where he met Christine Justice. They married
in 1982. After retiring, they moved to Lake Havasu City in 1990 where
they spent much of their time volunteering.

Donald served on the Lake Havasu City Planning and Zoning Commission,
Public Works Advisory Board, Board of Adjustment and other City
committees and as a City Public Transit Operator for 14 years.

In 1990, Don and Chris began the LHC Special Olympics and developed it
to 82 athletes and 10 sports. They resigned in 2018 after years of
organizing, volunteering and coaching many of the sports. Don
volunteered for New Horizons in LHC along with Master Gardners and Lake
Havasu City Republicans.

In 1990, Don and Chris helped to found the London Bridge Civitan Club
and became charter members as well as being involved with the Heart of
the West District Civitan, serving in many roles. In 2018 Don was
awarded the Civitan International Honor Key, the only one in the
district to have been honored to receive that.

The Memorial Service is Tuesday, April 15th at 11:00 am. Christ Chapel,
3450 Chemehuevi Blvd. Lake Havasu City, AZ. 86406.
