Paul George Hodges, 67, a longtime Eloy merchant and civic leader, died Sept. 28, 2004 at home. Visitation was Saturday at First United Methodist Church. The funeral there followed with the Rev. John Martin officiating. Burial was in Eloy Memorial Park. Mr. Hodges was born Sept. 8, 1937 in Phoenix and was the son of George and Sethryn Hodges. He moved to Eloy in 1948. He graduated from Northern Arizona University and also attended the University of Arizona. He was a member of the Eloy Chamber of Commerce since 1977, a longtime board member, twice served as president and received the chamber's Good Neighbor of the Year award. He was chairman of the Good Neighbor award for 1984-85. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, was secretary of the Board of Trustees and head usher. He was active with Boy Scouts and was a past president of the Eloy Little League. He served with the Eloy economic development committee and on the Image Promotion Committee from 1982 to 2000. He received the SPOKE Award in 1984. He is survived by several cousins in Arizona and California and a dear friend, Mildred Pennington.
