Little Girl Dies From Crushed Foot
Word was received here last Friday of the death of little Marjorie Denham, of Shumway. The little
girl with several others were playing on the hillside, when a large stone accidentally became
loose and began rolling. Before she could get out of the way the stone caught her foot,
mangling her toes badly. The Denhams lost no time in getting her to a doctor at Winslow, who
amputated the toes. It was thought she was getting along nicely but the wound became
infected and she died last Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Denham had adopted the little girl only a short time ago and had become greatly
attached to her. Her mother died at Holbrook about a year ago and her father, a Mr. Crumley,
and her two brothers reside there at present.
