Finis Alford Tope, 83, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away October 9, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army Bushmasters WWII and U.S. Air Force. Memorial Service will be at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ, at a later date. Arrangements handled by Tempe Mortuary. TOPE, Finis Alford "Mick" Finis "Mick" Alford Tope, 1-3-1921 to 10-9-2004 Will be honored with a ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on 11-10-2004 at 11a.m., Following the ceremony he will be interred with his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia L. Tope. Born in Anniston MO on 1-3-1921 the family moved to Arizona in 1936. He joined the Conservation Corps at 16, building Horsethief Basin Dam. In 1940 Mick joined the Arizona National Guard at Prescott, serving with the 158th Infantry (The Bushmasters) in WWII in the New Guinea and Luzon Theaters. Retired from the military after 22 years of service, he attended Phoenix College. After receiving a degree in accounting Mick went to work for Arizona Dept. of Transportation, retiring as Fiscal Service Manager in Right of Way. Mick is survived by his four children, Kenneth (Shawnie), Mary Marshall (Larry), David (Katy), and Randolph (Jackie). Nine grandchildren, Anna, Ken, Bryan, Jamie, Julia, Cindy, Erin, Sam, Christopher and eight great-grandchildren. Brother Bill (Dolly), sisters Ruth Tenney, Betty Arnold (Norman), Frankie Harding (Larry) and extraordinary friends and in-laws Mary and Bernie Calvert. Janice May and many nieces and nephews.
