The Miner published April 30, 2025 - Kingman, Arizona - Janice Greseth Dushane, 83, of Kingman, Arizona passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. She was born in Sisseton, South Dakota on Sept. 12, 1941 to Edwin and Mabel Greseth. She has one older sister and one younger brother. She grew up on a farm in Robert's county, South Dakota. She graduated high school in 1959. She then attended Beauty school in Fargo, North Dakota, and met her first husband Merlyn Peterson. They married on May 21, 1960. She opened her own beauty shop, "Jan's Gardener Beauty Shop" Shortly afterwards TamLa Peterson was born on Sept. 21, 1961. Merlyn passed on April 9, 1973. Soon she met Laurence (Larry) Dushane, got married on May 25, 1974. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Lori Dushane was born on Feb. 9, 1976. In Albuquerque, Larry had a 2-year-old son Laurence Dushane Jr. They all attended Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque. They fostered a friend of TamLa's, Sarah Newman, which led to them adopting her. In 1981 Larry, Jan and Lori moved to Suisun-Fairfield, California of northern California for Larry's job at AT&T in San Francisco. They attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church and were very active there. She continued to foster many children. Larry Dushane passed on July 9, 2021. Janice relocated to Kingman in 2003. She attended Grace Lutheran Church and was very active in it. She was always helping people any way she could. She made friends everywhere she went. For decades she did hair at home, was always active at church, loved singing in the choir, feeding the homeless, and she was always looking for a good deal at thrift stores. The world was a better place with her in it. She is survived by her two daughters; TamLa Soto-Fischer, Lori Dushane, Laurence Dushane Jr., sister Donna Marohl, brother Butch Greseth, four grandchildren; Jennifer Soto, Christopher Soto, Adam Soto, and Grace Dushane, and two great grandchildren; Liam Garland and Damian Soto. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, adopted daughter, and second husband, and many dear friends along the way. Services will be at a later date at Grace Lutheran Church in Kingman, Arizona. |
