Published by Today's News Herald on July 16, 2025 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Ruth Mary Spellman, 87, of Lake Havasu City, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at Haven Nursing Facility. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1938 to Mary and Joseph Gross, Ruth was one of twelve children and is survived by her brother, Chuck Gross. On July 8, 1955, she married William "Bill" P. Spellman; the couple had just marked their 70th wedding anniversary. Ruth devoted 35 years to Kmart, 15 in Riverside, California, and 20 in Lake Havasu City. An avid reader of Nora Roberts, she also loved casino getaways to Laughlin, Nevada, and cruising the open seas with Bill. Ruth's boundless energy and caring nature endeared her to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Bill, children, Bill Spellman, Jr., Lori Mark, and Suzanne Szot; grandchildren, Paul Braden, Jenny Marsh, Jessica Spellman, Allison Mark, Samantha Spellman-Bales, and Mitchell Spellman; great-grandchildren, Bam Braden, Mac Braden, and Madison Bales; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Spellman (2002). A private family gathering will celebrate Ruth's life; no formal service is planned. |
