He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred and Ileene Sowerby, as well as his brother, Paul Sowerby. He shared 59 remarkable years of marriage with his wife, Lynne. Together, they enjoyed a lifetime of fulfilling moments - laughing often, taking road trips near and far, and always planning the next adventure. Whether traveling cross-country with friends or hosting gatherings at home, they created a life full of connection, light- hearted fun, and genuine friendship. Fred was born in Mt. Clemens, MI and graduated from Western Michigan University with a mechanical engineering degree. He retired from the Ford Motor Company where he spent the majority of his career at the Arizona Proving Ground in Yucca, Arizona. Throughout his lifetime, he had a special way of making others feel welcome. His friendly demeanor and steady kindness drew people in. Whether chatting with a lifelong friend or striking up a conversation with a stranger, Fred listened well, laughed easily, and made you feel like you belonged. Later in life, Fred enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. Creating dishes that brought people together became one of his greatest joys. He also found solace and community as a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Lynne, he is survived by his daughter, Tracey (Jack), daughter, Kelly (Ted) and son, Scott (Deb), as well as seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A private celebration of life to honor Fred will be held at a later date. |
