Kingman, Arizona -Gary Lee

“Once a brother, always a brother. A brother may not always be at your
side, but he is forever in your heart.”

Gary passed away peacefully on July 7 at the Joan and Diana Hospice Home
in Kingman, Arizona. He fought a short battle with cancer, and it
unfortunately took him sooner than later. Gary was born in Hastings,
Nebraska to Wes and Donna Semm. They moved their young family to
California in 1957 when Wes was transferred with his job. They lived in
Norwalk for a few years and then moved to Buena Park. Gary graduated
from Savanna High School in 1974 (Anaheim, CA). He worked as a mason
with various construction companies until his last job as a fencing
superintendent with Orange-Pacific Construction, Inc. Upon retirement he
moved to Kingman to be near family and care for his ailing mother with
Alzheimer’s.

Gary is survived by his older brother Bob Semm (Rhonda), Mesa, AZ &
children Todd (Christy), Costa Mesa, CA & son Brayden; Rochelle (Luke)
Meadows, Dekalb, IL & children Daulton, Addyson & Maclane; Marc Morris,
Mesa, AZ; older twin brother Larry Semm (Linda) Kingman, AZ & daughter
Jenna Alvarado, Kingman, AZ; sister Terry Ueda (Roger) of Kingman, AZ &
children John Trotter, Kingman, AZ; Donna Esquibel (Gabe) Kingman, AZ &
children Gabriel, Estevan & daughters Elaina & Mia; Marissa (Andrew),
Matthew, Manny, Devin Serrano (Beth) & children Michael and Christoper.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Wes & Donna Semm and nephew
Travis Semm.

Gary was a wonderful, loving, and extremely patriotic person who was
willing to help anyone who had a need. Gary never married, but he loved
his family including parents, siblings, grandparents, many aunts, uncles
and cousins and his many friends. He really loved all his nieces and
nephews and loved being called Uncle Gary. He was a lifetime member of
the Californians for Nebraska Club. He loved going to Lincoln to watch
football games or to local CFN watch sites with his fellow Husker fans.
Since he was only a few miles from Anaheim Stadium, he was a huge fan
and loved cheering for the Angels.

Gary’s hobbies were going to garage sales and auctions, buying old
tools, Tonka trucks, old bottles, food tins and other various things. He
was most proud of his license plate collection displayed in his garage.
He loved everything about Route 66, and he spent many a vacation
traveling the old road. He loved his furry companion Sammy (adopted when
his mother passed). He also cared for approximately 10 feral cats who he
loved dearly and fed every day. Gary was a trusted Dog Uncle to Bailey,
Leo, June, and George. If they knew he was coming, they would be waiting
for him at the door.

Gary also found it very amusing one time in Seligman when he was
traveling on old Route 66. A bus load of Japanese on a tour wanted to
take a photo with him. They mistook him for Hulk Hogan because he had
long blond hair with a fumanchu. Guess the white guys all look alike to
Asians too. Gary will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and
neighbors. RIP Gary.
