Margaret F. Young, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025,
surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her parents,
Leonard Samuel Fosdick and Elizabeth Carter Fosdick; her brother,
William M. Fosdick; brothers-in-law, Howard Young and William Carter;
and sister-in-law, Joanne Fosdick.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Irving; her children, Amy
and Hillary, and their husbands; her four grandchildren; her sister,
Elizabeth; sisters-in-law, Cindy and Elaine; brother-in-law, Mario; and
many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, Class of
1956, and Iowa State University, Class of 1960, Margaret moved to
Kingman, Arizona, in 1974 to raise her family after her husband's
medical school training and military service were complete.

She was actively involved in the Kingman community while raising her
children, volunteering with the Kingman Dolphins Swim Team, helping
organize Swim-O-Rama and large fundraising events that supported the
team. She was a regular timer at swim meets, cheering for the kids
alongside lifelong friends.

Margaret also volunteered with the Mohave Museum of History and Arts and
worked to support Kingman Regional Medical Center (formerly Mohave
General Hospital), helping promote a successful bond election that laid
the groundwork for the hospital’s growth. She managed her husband's
radiology practice while keeping things running smoothly at home. She
was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and had dear friends
there.

She served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years, sharing
her creativity and warmth with the next generation. Margaret was known
for her many talents, including cooking, crafting, sewing homemade
clothes, organizing remote camping trips, and creating beautiful
needlepoint pieces. She was the best cook, and her gifts were often
heartfelt labors of love.

In her 40s, Margaret ran the Andy Devine 10K, even placing first in her
age group. She also took classes at Mohave Community College, nurturing
her love for desert plants and lifelong learning.

Her final 25 years were spent in Tucson, Arizona, where she found great
joy living near both of her siblings and her youngest daughter, Hillary,
and enjoying frequent visits to and from her beloved family members out
of state. She was able to travel extensively during these years and
deeply appreciated all that Tucson had to offer. She especially enjoyed
hikes in Sabino Canyon and attending performances by the Tucson Symphony
Orchestra and lectures and concerts on the University of Arizona campus.

The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by
Hacienda de Luna Assisted Living in Tucson and Amedisys Hospice during
her final years.

Everyone felt special in her presence. Over the years, we learned to
reciprocate in kind, especially when she was in the grips of Alzheimer’s
disease. She never lost the ability to let you know she deeply
appreciated life and her loved ones.

Margaret was a devoted mother, wife, sister, Gran, aunt, cousin, and
friend. Her generous spirit and gentle kindness will be remembered by
all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Memorial donations in honor of Margaret F. Young may be made to: Friends

Orchestra: https://www.tucsonsymphony.org/support/give-online or by mail

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
