John Mullens
Services were held Monday morning for John Mullens, in Ragsdale Chapel in the Valley with the
Rev. W. M. Carr, officiating. Burial was in Double Butte Cemetery.
Mr. Mullens, 54, a construction worker, resided at 1721 East Illini. He was born in Needmoore,
Arkansas and moved to Phoenix in 1939 from Hamilton, Ohio. A member of Welcome Baptist
Church, he served as its assistant pastor for two years and was active in the Sunday School. He
was a member of the Construction Workers Union 383. He died Tuesday, July 1.
Survivors include his wife, Ardella, three sons, Tyrone, John, and Dave; three daughters,
Arthella, Arvella, Amelia, all of Phoenix: and another daughter, Mary Alice of Colorado Springs,
Colo., a brother, Eunice, Magnolia, Arkansas; and two sisters, Rosie Lee Hodge, Houston, Texas,
and Dovie Carey, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
