Our beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and
friend, John Richard Saavedra, passed away from this earthly life and
joined the Lord on July 24, 2025. To know John was not only to love him,
but to share a deeply personal connection with a truly remarkable human
being. His presence was unforgettable—his personality lit up every room,
and his love for others was both genuine and generous. John’s greatest
devotion was to his family. He had a special bond with all, always
offering hugs, words of love, and unwavering support. His kindness and
warmth were constants in our lives.

Born in Kingman, Arizona, on Oct. 10, 1975, to Frederico Saavedra and
Gloria (Lopez) Saavedra, John was raised alongside his siblings,
Virginia “Gina” Saavedra, Frank “Chepo” Saavedra, and Phillip Jarquin. A
proud graduate of Kingman High School, Class of 1994, John spent much of
his life in his hometown, working for the Mohave County Treasurer’s
Office and Sun Valley Bumper for over two decades.

In 1997, John became a father to Breanna (Saavedra) Sanchez, and in
2001, he welcomed his son, Alex Saavedra. On July 16, 2006, he married
the love of his life, Melissa Jenkins. With Melissa came Shayla
Mayberry, whom John loved as his own. Together, John and Melissa
completed their beautiful family with daughters Kayleigh (Saavedra)
Davis and Emilie Saavedra, and their youngest son, Kolby Saavedra, in
November 2022.

In April 2025, John experienced one of life’s greatest joys—becoming
“Papa” to his grandson, Elias Saint. He embraced this new role with
pride and joy, wearing the title like a badge of honor.

John’s happiness came from time spent with loved ones—whether at his
kids' events, family gatherings, or cooking everyone’s favorite meals.
His absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him,
and his legacy of love and family will continue to ripple through
generations.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Saavedra; children Breanna (Joey)
Sanchez, Alex Saavedra, Shayla Mayberry, Kayleigh (Elijah) Davis, Emilie
Saavedra, and Kolby Saavedra; grandson Elias Davis; father Juan Jarquin;
siblings Gina (Mike) Padilla, Frank (Katya) Saavedra, and Phillip
(Autumn) Jarquin; aunts Carmen Martinez and Teresa Reaume; uncles Dan
Reaume and Urial Contreras; nieces Charly (Martin) Saavedra, Gabby
Padilla, Stephanie (Steven) Saavedra, Alyssa (Ryan) Olivas, Sofia
Saavedra, Nicole Padilla, Brooklyn Jarquin, and Lacey Jarquin; nephews
Joseph Saavedra, Bentley Jarquin, Sylus Jarquin, Aiden Harrell, and Max
Stone; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his father, Frederico Saavedra; mother,
Gloria Jarquin; grandparents, Eusebio and Virginia Lopez; Ray and Ruth
Russell; aunts, Francis Payton and Tina Lopez; uncles, Carl Payton and
Robert Martinez; cousin, Robert Martinez; and granddaughter, Auriella.

Services will be held on Saturday, Aug.16, 2025, at 1 p.m. at New Life
Church, 419 Harrison St., Kingman, AZ. A celebration of life will follow
at 3 p.m. at the Old Elks Lodge, 301 N. 4th St., Kingman, AZ.
