| Published by The Miner on September 9, 2025 - Kingman, Arizona - Dorothy McDade, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Kingman, Arizona, on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, after a long battle with dementia. She was 96 years old. Born on Aug. 18, 1929, in Yates Center, Kansas, to Earnest and Lessie Terrell, Dorothy lived a full and accomplished life. She graduated from Yates Center High School as both valedictorian and homecoming queen, a reflection of her intelligence, charm, and grace. In 1948, Dorothy married Kenneth Barr, and together they raised four children: Sandy Barr of Pocatello, Idaho, Kenneth Barr of Scottsdale, Arizona, Richard Barr of Plano, Texas, and Denis Barr of Kingman, Arizona. She was later blessed with eight grandchildren, eleven great- grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy. Dorothy was an avid reader, and books were abundant at her home. While managing the Eureka and Iola airports, she also wrote a column for the local newspapers about flying and things happening at the airport. Dorothy married William McDade in 1981, with whom she shared many happy years. She will be laid to rest beside him in Waxahachie, Texas. A woman of deep faith, Dorothy was a longtime member of College Baptist Church in Kingman, where she joyfully served as a greeter. Her warm smile and kind spirit will be deeply missed by her church family and all who knew her. Dorothy’s legacy of love, faith, and perseverance lives on in the generations she leaves behind.
