Elmer J. Henley, 92, of Coolidge died Nov. 1, 2003 in Phoenix.

Visitation was Wednesday at Simes Mortuaries Coolidge Chapel. The funeral there will follow at 1, with the Rev. Don Overstreet officiating. Burial in Valley Memorial Park.

Mr. Henley was born Nov. 25, 1911 in Eufala, Okla., to Frank and Katherine Henley. He was a heavy-equipment operator for Southern Pacific Railroad before retirement. He enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia and was a "shade-tree" mechanic when he was younger. He enjoyed that and had worked on vehicles for many Coolidge residents. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and his face would light up anytime one of them came around.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mable; two daughters, Roberta Bishop of Kingman and Patsy Jeffries of Phoenix; four sons, Billy Henley of Kingman, Robert Henley of Redding, Calif., Roy Henley of Kingman and Scott Henley of Coolidge; a twin sister, Felmer Fissel of Muskogee, Okla.; a brother, Dale Henley of Stidham, Okla.; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Stimeling; and five siblings, Ethel, George, Audrey, Bill and Troy.
