Lawrence C. Whitaker 1915 to 1991

Graveside services were held Thursday, July 25 for L.C. "Whit" Whitaker, 76, at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park, Payson, AZ. Mr. Whitaker passed away July 21, 1991 in Phoenix, AZ. Born May 12, 1915 in Sherman, OK, he had lived in Arizona for 40 years and in the Payson area for the past 30 years. He had been employed as operating engineer in road construction and had built many of the roads in AZ including the road at the South Rim of Grand Canyon. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 428 and also the Elks Lodge in Oklahoma.

Survivors include foster daughter, Kathe Sampson; four daughters, Faye Gilbert, Vy Whitaker, both of Mesa, Jan Dovell of Oklahoma and Norma Siegenthaler of Tempe; one sister, Audrey Cluster of Kansas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial donations may be given in memory of "Whit" Whitaker to American Cancer Society, Payson Unit, P.O. Box 534, Payson, AZ 85547.
