| Marvin Lowell Hedges entered eternal life on Monday, June 1, 2009, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tucson from age-related health issues. He was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Imperial, Neb., to Roy E. Hedges and Orinda (Weiss) Hedges. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores (Beebee); his sons, Daryl and Dennis Hedges; his daughters, Evelyn (Robert) Carter and Teresa Boone-Hummel; his brothers, Gene, William and Elza (Doc); and his sister, Doris Hedges Yonker. He is survived by his wife, Edna; sons, Roger Hedges of Portland, Ore., and Terry (Rhonda) Hedges of Kingman; daughters, Edith (Norman) Stickler of Hackberry, and Barbara Siler and Peggy (Joe) Brown, both of Kingman; stepson, Monte (Cheri) Johnson of Cortez, Colo.; stepdaughter, Hazel Johnson of Tucson; brothers, Gail (Gaynelle) Hedges of Modesto, Calif., Dick (Waydean) Hedges of Idaho Springs, Colo.; sisters, Hazel (Fred) Wagner and Genevieve (Max) Rowley, both of Imperial, Neb., and Vada (Clarence) Blakesley of Holyoke, Colo.; and 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Marvin served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 as a member of the 336th Service Squadron, serving in the South Pacific Theater for more than two years. Following his military service, he became a sheet metal worker. As a heating and air condition contractor for more than 40 years, he worked on the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam in Page, Ariz., as well as numerous schools, churches and private homes. From Page he relocated his business to Cortez. In 1989, he retired to Tucson where he remained active in his church and the American Legion. A memorial service was held at the Tucson Estates Community Center on June 20. Interment will be private. Kingman Daily Miner Thursday, June 25, 2009. |
