John Keith Helmer

John Keith Helmer, a long-time resident of Kingman, passed away at his home on June 17, 2009.

John was born in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., on Aug. 25, 1928, to Bert and Ethel Helmer. He was the third youngest of 11 children.

In the late 1940s, John enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. He served eight years while in Tucson. After leaving the Air Force, John started his career with the Arizona Highway Patrol in Tucson. In 1959, John moved his wife and three children to Kingman to continue working as a highway patrol officer. After retirement from the Department of Public Safety in 1975, he went to work for the Mohave County Attorney's Office. In 1990, he and his wife, Dorothy, retired at the same time.

John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Helmer. He is survived by daughters, Joanne Helmer and Kim Fitzsimmons, both of Kingman, and his son and daughter-in-law, Keith
