Posted 2009-07-01 by Kingman Daily Miner
Edgar Elson Pepiton, most commonly known as "Pep," was born on Nov. 28, 1920, in Louisiana. He passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009, in Phoenix.

Pep came here from Gross Tete, Louisiana, and lived in Kingman for 66 years since World War II. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps, Kingman, 31st ATU, training high altitude bomber crews to stay alive in freezing, non-pressurized WWII bombers.

Pep went to business school in Phoenix on the G.I. Bill. He returned to Kingman and worked for several local businesses as an accountant. In the mid-1950s, he went to work for Peat, Marwick & Mitchell at their Kingman office. When PMM pulled up stakes in Mohave County, Pep formed a partnership with Ken Weinke. Weinke and Pepiton grew into one of the most trusted accounting firms in the Southwest. They were in demand as the outside auditing firm of choice for multiple government and tribal offices as well as for massive private enterprises in Las Vegas and Henderson, Nev.

Pep was the past president of the Kingman Lion's Club, past president of the Kingman Chamber of Commerce and a member of the National Association of Certified Public Accountants.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, formerly Jean Anderson; his daughter, Marie Landry of Salt Lake City; his sons, Ken Pepiton of Pine Valley, Calif., and Richard Pepiton of Wilcox, Ariz. He had eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Private family services were held Friday, June 19, at Mountain View Cemetery, where Pep's first wife and two daughters, Peggy and Barbara, are also buried.

Donations are asked to be made to the charity of your choice in Pep's name as a seed of kindness.
