Arthur John Gisiner

Posted 2009-07-02 by Eastern Arizona Courier
Arthur John Gisiner, a prominent chiropractor for 35 years in Antigo, died Tuesday, June 23, at the age of 77. A native of Chicago, Art attended Senn High School and North Park College before graduating as valedictorian for the National College of Chiropractic. Art, a decorated veteran, proudly served his country during the Korean War in the Army’s 25th Division from 1953 through 1955.

In 1958, Art moved to Antigo to open his practice and began his legacy in the community. Art worked tirelessly, never turning a patient away. Any time you walked into his office, you would see Art’s passion for helping people and expertise in his profession. To his colleagues, Art was a mentor and someone to admire.

When he was not in his office helping patients, Art could be found on the court playing or coaching tennis with the desire of passing on his love of the game to others. Art was a certified member of the Professional Tennis Registry, an organization of tennis teachers and coaches. He led the 1991 Antigo High School varsity tennis team to a winning season.

Art and his wife of 24 years, Christine, spent their retirement years in Arizona and Texas, most recently in Safford. Their desire for warm weather and love of the outdoors brought them to these beautiful areas.

Art is survived by his wife, Christine (Malueg), daughter Pamela and son Brent (Franca). Art was the proud grandfather of three wonderful grandchildren: Paige, (10), Sofia, (6) and Samuel (3). Memorial services will be held in Antigo on July 11.
