Karl Wayne Ehrlich

Karl Wayne Ehrlich, 56, devoted son, brother, and uncle gently passed
away September 6th, 2006.

Our "Gentle Giant" was a graduate of McClintock High School and Arizona State University.

Karl worked as a civilian employee for the Navy as a mechanical engineer for over 30 years at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, in Dahlgren, Virginia. He returned home to Arizona after medically retiring from federal service in 2004, settling in Mesa.

An NRA certified marksmanship instructor, Karl was extremely active in shooting sports and Second Amendment preservation issues. He enjoyed renaissance festivals and actively attended science fiction conventions, where he was often asked to be a guest speaker. He was a board member of the Virginia Diabetes Association. Karl also spent many years as a volunteer EMT for the Dahlgren, Virginia, rescue squad.

He is survived by his brother Mark, two sisters Kathy and Pixie, his niece, four nephews, three grandnieces, one grandnephew, and his beloved four-legged companion, Velvet. He was preceded by his parents Louis and Bernice, and his nephew Andrew who was also his godson.

Memorial services were held Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at Lakeshore Mortuary, Mesa, AZ. In lieu of flowers, Karl requested that donations be made to either the Dahlgren Rescue Squad, PO Box 1375, Dahlgren, VA 22448; the American Diabetes Association; or the American Heart Association. Arrangements entrusted to Lakeshore Mortuary.
