WOODS, Roy Grant, died September 15, 2007, in Lakeside, Az. He was born November 13, 1927, in Thatcher, Az. Roy was principal of Ray District High School (Kearny, Az). He worked as personnel director of the original Marana High School. He planned for and was principal of the Marana High School on Emigh Road. In his lifetime, he served as president of the North Central Accreditation Association and president of Arizona Secondary School Principals. He originated the GED (General Education Development) program for adults with Central Arizona College and established the Master Schedule B Conference Athletics for Southern Arizona. He is survived by sons, Andrew Wood of Brussels, Belgium, Grant Shupe Woods (Sharon) of Mesa; Roy Keith Woods (Malele) of Kingaroy, Australia; and daughter, Claire Woods Westlake (Kevin) of Mesa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Shupe Woods. Services and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2007 at Thatcher LDS Stake Center, 1260 Reay Lane. A Roy Woods memorial has been established for a deserving student to be selected from Kearny High School through Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 2945, Phoenix, AZ 85062-2945.
