John P. White

Dr. John P. White, Sr. Born March 7, 1924, went home to be with Lord November 24, 2002. Dr. White was a professor of political science at Arizona State University from 1963 until 1987 and was chairman of the department in 1964.

Dr. White began his teaching career at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor from 1954 to 1963 and is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in 1962. He is a decorated WWII Veteran having received the bronze star. He graduated with high honors from the University of Cincinnati in 1949, received his masters degree from the University of Chicago in 1952 and his Ph.D in 1953.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph H. and Anna M. White, his late wife Mary Louise in 1987 and grandson Marvin Hurt in 1998. Dr. White is survived by his children John Jr. and Karen Hurt (Mack Clifford), sisters Mary Lou Angus and Dorothy Kaesemeyer, grandchildren Courtney, Caitlin, Marissa, and Kevin, and his Close friend Jan Scott.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 2nd, 2002, with a Mass to following at St. Jerome Catholic Church 10815 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix. Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Chapel, Peoria.
