The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona December 11, 2002 Joe M. Limon, 85, a native of Arizona, passed away on December 9, 2002. Joe was born June 19, 1917 to Teresa Bracamonte and Jesus E. Limon. Joe had been a resident of Tempe since the late 1930's when he relocated to Tempe from his home in Douglas, Arizona. In 1942, Joe earned a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University, then known as Arizona State Teacher's College. Prior to being drafted for WWII in 1943 Joe worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix as a Medical Technologist. Following his service in WWII, Joe was member of the Selective Service System and received commendations from Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Reagan. In 1958, Joe established the University Bio-Chem Laboratory in Tempe, where he served as Medical Director for more than 30 years until retiring in 1988. Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ernestine Cahill Limon. Joe was the proud father of eight children, 15 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. Visitation Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe, with Rosary following. Funeral Mass Thursday, December 12, 2002 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Tempe. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Joe Limon's memory to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Arrangements are with Carr Tenney Mortuary.
