The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona April 15, 2007 Sam Hortareas "Papou", 79, of Phoenix, Az passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007 of a couargeous fight against Parkinson's-Dementia Disease. Sam was born in Michigan on October 3, 1927 and moved to Arizona in 1959. He was a wonderful father and a very proud Popou. He is survived by his 3 children, Angela, James and John, his 9 grandchildren Crystal, Tiffany, Gregory, John Kyla, Emily, Joshua, Elsa and Matthew, his 5 great grandchildren Mckayla, Zoey, Lola, Maria and Anyia. He has now joined his beautiful wife of 50 years, who passed 3 years earlier. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor and touched the lives of many. He was very dedicated to helping in his church and was a very generous, thoughtful and loving man. He will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him. Dad, Papou, your songs, stories and smile will stay forever in our hearts. We will miss you and we love you very much. Visitation was held Tuesday, April 17th with a Funeral service following, both at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road. See Also: Paradise Memorial Gardens Cemetery |
