Born in Abbyville, Kansas on June 12, 1923.
Departed on Aug. 20, 2004 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Wayne Edward Waddle, 81, of Cottonwood died August 20. He was born June 12, 1923 in Abbyville, Kansas to Elizabeth and Chester Waddle. He had an older brother Harold, who preceded him in death, along with his parents.

His first wife, Barbara Cooper of Hutchinson, Kansas also preceded him in death.

Wayne is survived by their four children; Kevin Waddle, Las Vegas, Nev., Kimberly Penniman, Glendale, Ariz., Kristen Waddle, Fountain Hills, Ariz., Kirk Waddle, Cottonwood, Ariz. and five grandchildren.

In 1977, Wayne married Kathaleen Steinmetz Dean after their meeting at a class reunion in Hutchinson, Kansas. They have been married 26 years. Kathaleen (Katy) survives Wayne along with her three children, Rodney Dean of Houston, Texas, Terry Dean of Hutchinson, Kansas, Rhonda Harvey of Cottonwood, Arizona and seven step-grandchildren. He loved both of his families without reservation, and he was an anchor they could always count on,a role model, a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

Wayne served active duty in the Navy during World War II in both Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. After WWII, her served in the Naval Reserves for seventeen years, retiring in Denver, Colorado. Following the military, Wayne worked for the Small Business Administration before retiring in 1972. He then owned and operated the Oasis Mobile Home Park until 1983. He then moved to Clarkdale, Arizona, where he enjoyed his full retirement years playing tennis, riding his motorcycles and traveling.

Wayne and Katy attended the Verde Baptist Church where Wayne served as an usher for many years. He found his greatest joy in being surrounded by family and friends. Now he will reunite with the family that preceded him, and his beloved Father in Heaven. 'Home is the sailor, home from the sea'.

A visitation will be held Monday, August 23 in the Westcott Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 24 in the Verde Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Hutchinson, Kansas.
