Departed on Dec. 1, 2002 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Johnnie H. Klassen, 81, of Cottonwood died December 1. He was born November 4, 1921 in Goessell, Kansas.

Mr. Klassen was a graduate of Goessel High School in 1940. During his career, he worked at Ganado Mission and later at the Round Top Trading Post, both in Ganado, Arizona and the Prairie View Mental Health Center in Newton, Kansas.

He was a member of the Verde Valley Presbyterian Church and his hobbies included reading, walking and woodwork.

He leaves his wife, Velma; son, Leroy J. and Sandra Klassen, Rio Rancho, N.M.; grandson, Nigel Butler; brothers, Rudolph and Allene Klassen, Sedona; brother Orlando and Lee Klass, Albuquerque, N.M.; sister-in-law, Della Klassen, Phoenix and ten nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 6 in the Verde Valley Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m.
