Jon William Shankland Born in North Bend, Oregon on May 16, 1917. Departed on Nov. 29, 2002 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Jon William Shankland, 85, of Cottonwood died November 29. He was born May 16, 1917 in North Bend, Oregon. During World War II, he served as an Air Force Flight Officer. He was a retired supply officer for Bonneville Power. He was a graduate of Vestal Grade School of Portland, Oregon and the Benson Occupational School and the University of Oregon in Eugene. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Jerome Lodge of Elks (for 24 years), the American Legion for (54 years) and NARFE (for 23 years. He was a lifetime member of the Interior Associates of the Northwest and the Good Sam Club. He was a past president and riding member of the Posse of the Clark County Saddle Club of Vancouver, Washington. Mr. Shankland was a founding member and original drill master of the Roverettes, a women's equesterine drill team. Mr. Shankland leaves his wife of 56 years, Mildred, daughters, Jorga Stark, Woodland, Wash. and Mella Dee Wagner, Chino Valley; son, Daryl Marl Shankland, College Place, Or.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 2 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood and Camp Verde, Arizona. |
