Melvin James Gray Born in East St. Louis, Illinois on Sept. 18, 1924. Departed on April 7, 2003 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Melvin James Gray, 78, of Cottonwood died April 7. He was born September 18, 1924 in East Saint Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois. Mr. Gray retired from the wholesale food service industry where he was employed as a coffee representative. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He leaves his wife, Alice Mary Gray; daughters, Donna Darlene (Gray) Thomas, Anthem, Ariz. and Denise Ann (Gray) Kerns, Mechanicsville, Md.; son David Barry Gray, Clarkdale, Ariz.; sisters, Darlene Ann Schutzenhofer, Fairview Heights, Ill. and Dolores Loretta Dennehey, St. Louis, Mo.; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 10 in the Immaculate Conception Church, 700 N. Bill Gray Road at 1 p.m. The Funeral Mass will immediately follow. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, April 11 in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 11 a.m. Westcott Funeral Home is entrusted with these arrangements.
