John Peter Hiegel

Born in Erie, Pennsylvania on Nov. 21, 1914.
Departed on Feb. 14, 2003 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona.

John Peter Hiegel, 88, of Cottonwood died February 14. He was born November 21, 1911 in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hiegel retired from Reynolds Aluminum. A baseball and football enthusiast, he played on a minor league team in Erie, Pennsylavania as a young man. He was a jack of all trades. Before his marriage he had been a music teacher of stringed instruments and that is how he met his wife of 44 years, she was a student of his. They both played music together on a local radio program called ''Song of the Islands''. He was a loving family man.

He leaves two daughters, Diana Kay Miozzi, Peekskill, N.Y. and Mary Lou Hiegel, Cottonwood; son, John Paul Hiegel, Cottonwood; sister, Anna Mae Pete, Lake City, Penn.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His wife, Rhea Hiegel, preceded him in death.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20 in the Westcott Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m.

A family graveside service will be held in the Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix.
