Posted 2009-07-11 by Fountain Hills Times
Penny Warren, 63, of Phoenix, passed away on June 25, 2008 in her home after a reoccurrence of cancer that was originally diagnosed in late 2005.

She was born on May 25, 1945 in Staunton, Virginia, to parents Bill and Sarah Livingston who are still living in Newport News, Va. She grew up in Hampton, Va. along with her brother and sister, Bill Livingston who lives in Durham, N.C. and Sally Brown who lives in Midlothian, Va.

Penny graduated from Hampton High School, received her undergraduate degree at Longwood College and masters from the State University of New York.

She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Larry, in 1965. They shared 43 wonderful years together that included one year in Baltimore, 10 years in Shoreham, N.Y., one year in Germany, and 11 years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Penny and Larry then moved to Arizona in 1989 where Larry still lives.

They raised three children, Stephanie Warren, Scott Warren and Julia Warren who all live in Arizona. They have two grandchildren, Alden, eight years old, by Julia, and Charlie, seven months old, by Stephanie.

Penny owned a small fabric and interior decorating business in Cedar Rapids with a close friend and was active in Junior League. While in Arizona she was the choral director of Fountain Hills High School and took 30 students to New York City to perform at Lincoln Center. She later became a successful real estate agent for Coldwell Banker.

Penny was active, athletic and had an infectious joy for life. She played tennis all her life, loved to ski, and loved to travel, shop, garden and knit.

She and Larry enjoyed spending their summers at their home in Prescott. Penny will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends.

Penny was cremated and interred in the columbarium at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, located at 4455 E Lincoln Dr, Paradise Valley. A memorial service will be held at that same church, led by her beloved pastor, Kelly Bender, at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the donor’s name to the memory of Penny Warren at Hospice of the Valley, www.hov.org.
