Marie C. Walters of Fountain Hills passed away July 11, 2008. Marie was a wife, mother, artist, and world traveler. After raising her sons Randy, Jeff and Greg in Bellevue, Wash., she began a series of long-term stays in foreign locales with husband Julius in 1976. Iran, Spain, Denmark and Singapore all held a special place in her heart. She loved to paint, beginning in Bellevue under the tutelage of Ilona Ritler. Her first work was shown at the Ritler Gallery. After moving to Fountain Hills, her work was accepted into juried exhibitions and businesses. Marie stated that tranquility was one of the key elements she strived for in her work. She wanted to invite the viewer “into a place of peace and comfort.” The same could be said of Marie herself. She was a happy, insightful person with many friends who appreciated her warm and caring spirit. She will be sorely missed by all. Marie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Julius; son Randy of Bristol, Conn., son Jeff (Kim) and grandsons Matthew and Bennett of Oakland Township, Mich., son Greg (Julie), and grandson Samuel of Seattle, Wash. A memorial will be held in August. Fountain Hills Times July 16, 2008. |
