Fountain Hills Christian Center Administrator Annie C. Collins, respected Member of the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce, died June 10, 2008 in Scottsdale unexpectedly at the tender age of 64. Annie C. Collins-Malone was born in April of 1944 in Pine Bluff, Ark. She is survived by her husband James W. Collins, a retired engineer. They met while Annie was working as the food and beverage manager for the Five Season Hotel during June of 1981. Jim needed a hotel room and he saw that “beautiful black woman” (as he stated) and from there their relationship blossomed and they were wed in December 1981. Even when facing the adversity of illness she remained optimistic and considered it to be merely an inconvenience that God could and would handle; as she was engrossed in and comforted by her spiritual beliefs and her love for God. Annie was already intensively studying Bible texts and became a long-standing and faithful member and served as the church secretary at the Fountain Hills Christian Center for several years; during which time she headed up the FHCC food sales art fair and a number of kitchen functions. Whether mothering her brood of FHCC children, teaching sign language, catering a host of church affairs, or volunteering for first one project than the next at FHCC, Annie gave her all, and joyfully so. Her beautiful smile was vivid every single day, regardless of any adversity she may encounter. She graduated in 1962 from Southeast High School in Pine Bluff, Ark. and later attended and graduated several colleges. Annie, one of eight children of Elijah (deceased) and Rosa Lee Malone of Detroit, Mich., is survived by an adult son, Kenneth Dickson, his two sons, Melvin and Rickey, and her siblings, John (Beatrice), James, Doris (Dwight), Ellen, Donald, Elecia and Chrystal, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Arrangements were by Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. To My Sister If only I knew I had the chance to pray with you one more time, I would take your hands and welcome God's presence to surround us. If only I knew this was the last time, the very last time I would see you, I would take the time to treasure everything about you. I thank God for the time I had with you. As always, much love.
