THE WICKENBURG SUN THE WEEK OF MAY 28, 2003 Jerry C. Slusher Jerry C. Slusher, 28, passed away May 22, 2003 in Show Low, Ariz. Jerry was born Nov. 20, 1974 in Hammond, Ind. Jerry moved to Yarnell, Ariz. with his family in June 1993. Jerry graduated from Morton High School in Hammond, Ind. where he lettered in drama and was a staff member of the "Snowball" operation (anti-alcohol and drug program). After high school he apprenticed as a welder at the East Chicago Machine Shop. After moving to Yarnell he worked for Brown and Root at the Bagdad Mine. He took a 10-day job at the Case Proving Grounds in Chandler that lasted a year. Jerry also worked at Keith Equipment in Buckeye and at Meadow Valley Construction in New Mexico. His infatuation with heavy equipment started when he would shout from his car seat, "Mommy stop, Mommy stop," whenever he would see green, yellow or red equipment, which all led to his advancing career from diesel mechanic to superintendent with Dohrn Companies, Inc. Pavement Profiling Division for the last five years. Jerry was highly skilled in every aspect of all equipment throughout the company. His employer was quoted as saying, "Though Jerry was independent, he was an integral part of our team and will be greatly missed." He is survived by his parents Joe and Pam (Sage) Slusher, Yarnell, Ariz.; grandparents Charles and Betty Blanchard, Michigan City; aunts uncles and cousins, Ken, Mary, Ken II, Bill and Ali Blanchard, Portland Ore., Kevin, Susie, Ryan Ali Blanchard, Munster, Moses and Patty Pagan, Kell and Jackie Blanchard, Michigan City and numerous other family members and friends. Services will be held at the Community Presbyterian Church in Yarnell on Friday, May 30, 2003 at 2 p.m. Frey Funeral Home made the arrangements. Contributions may be made to the family. |
