Frances E. Sprinkle

Frances E. Sprinkle, 88, died May 4, 2003 in Peoria, Ariz. She was a school teacher and a resident of Morristown, Ariz. She was born Oct. 19, 1914 in Bluefield, W.Va.

Mrs. Sprinkle was an extremely well-educated woman attending Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. and Duke University in Durham, N.C. for two years each. She received her Masters Degree from Stanford University where she also taught classroom management.

Mrs. Sprinkle was an excellent educator. She taught at three schools in West Virginia before relocating to Portola Valley, Calif. During her years she taught almost every subject in grades one through six.

Her lasting impression upon her students was evident when numerous former pupils from across the country joined her and her husband, Fred, for a celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Sprinkle enjoyed sewing, knitting, swimming, hiking and had a great love of animals. She also enjoyed traveling, always wanting to see places of educational importance.

She was a gracious and industrious woman, and was quite well-known in the Wickenburg, Portola Valley, Virginia and West Virginia areas.

Mrs. Sprinkle is survived by her sister Marguerite Price of Morristown, Ariz. and Godchild Barbara Puckett of Richmond, Va. She was preceded in death in 1999 by her husband of 59 years, Fred Ralston Sprinkle.

Mrs. Sprinkle will be remembered with a memorial service Tuesday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home. Pastor Dean Stanley will officiate.
