James Wallis Gibson, 85, of Phoenix, a retired yardmaster, died Jan. 12, 1999. He was born in Boone, Iowa. 

Survivors include his sister, Carrie Virgini; brother, George W.; and nephew, George Jr. 

Service were Friday at Paradise Hills Christian Center, 9425 N. 26th St., Phoenix, with visitation one hour before.
