Joan Ellen Noble (Matthews) passed away on July 7, 2009. Joan was born in Ridgewood, N.J., on July 24, 1946. 

After graduating from Rutgers, Joan moved to Northern California where she met her husband, Leo Noble, and had two children, Christopher Noble and Lauren Vanpelt.

Joan continued her education and earned an MPA while working full-time, serving on the local school board and caring for her family as well as working tirelessly for women's rights. Joan moved to Prescott, Ariz., to be near her daughter and granddaughter, Lily Vanpelt. 

The family will honor and remember Joan in a private service on her birthday in her favorite place.
